Privacy policy

We collect the head-unit serial you want decoded, your email address so we can deliver the code, and the payment record Stripe gives us. That is essentially it.

We do not build advertising profiles, we do not sell order histories, and we do not pass your details to data brokers or marketers.

We keep the order record — the serial you submitted, the code we returned, your email address, the amount paid and the timestamp — because we need it to honour the accuracy guarantee, handle refunds and meet our tax obligations.

We also collect the owner-use attestation you tick at checkout, because that is the basis on which the code was supplied.

We never request or return the registered keeper or owner of a vehicle. The Radio Code sells radio unlock codes only. We do not run plate lookups and we do not sell VIN history on this site — those reports live on pullvinreport.com. In the United States, personal information in motor vehicle records is restricted by the Driver's Privacy Protection Act (18 U.S.C. §2721). In the United Kingdom, keeper data is released by the DVLA only to those with reasonable cause. We are not in that business and we are not building towards it.

We do not ask you to upload a title, V5C, registration document or photo ID. Attesting that a unit is yours means we do not have to hold identity documents about you at all.

Card payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number never reaches our servers — Stripe collects it directly and returns a reference we store against the order. Stripe processes your data as an independent controller under its own privacy policy.

To fulfil an order we pass the serial — and only the serial — to the code calculator. They do not receive your name, email address or payment details.

Order records are retained for seven years, which is what tax rules require of us. Server request logs are retained for 30 days.

If you ask us to delete your data we will remove everything we are not legally required to keep, and tell you plainly what is left and why.

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. Email support@theradiocode.com and we will respond within 30 days. You do not need a template or a legal reference — just ask.

If you are in the UK or EU you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority. If you are in California you have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights, which is easy for us because we do not sell personal information at all.

When Google Analytics is configured, the site loads Google's gtag script to measure page views. The same bootstrap configures the Google Ads tag, and a Purchase conversion (order id and amount only) is sent once after Stripe confirms payment on the result page. We do not sell personal information or build remarketing lists from the serial you type. The only other state we keep in your browser is what is needed to carry an order between the lookup form and the result page, plus a one-time flag so a refresh does not send Purchase again.
