How to find your Chrysler Dodge Uconnect VP2 serial

Uconnect VP2 is the generation after the Panasonic TM9, and the two are not interchangeable. The label tells you which you have: a VP2 serial starts with TVPQN and the radio model line reads VP2.

Last 4 characters of the serial

QN4C

Example format

The last 4 characters. Type it with or without the leading TVPQN — both work.

Everything on this page is free to read. Once you have the serial, you can key the code in yourself using the steps below — or have us calculate it.

Step one

Where to look

In rough order of how little work each option takes on a Dodge VP2 unit.

  1. 01

Check it really is a VP2 first

Slide the unit out and read the chassis label. You want a serial beginning TVPQN and a model line reading VP2. If the serial starts TM9 instead, use our Chrysler Panasonic TM9 product — a VP2 code will not open a TM9 unit.

  2. 02

Chassis label on the top face

The serial runs TVPQN followed by several more characters. We only need the last four, but photograph the whole label so you can check the prefix.

  3. 03

    Radio menu on Uconnect screens

On touchscreen Uconnect units, holding the front-panel volume and tune knobs together on startup opens a service screen that lists the unit serial without removing anything.

Got the serial?

We can turn it into the 4-digit unlock code

Optional — this guide stays free either way. If you would rather not chase the code down yourself, enter the serial and we return the digits straight away.

Step two

Entering the code

However you got the four digits, this is how they go in.

  1. 1

Turn the ignition to accessory so the unit powers up and shows CODE.

  2. 2

Enter the four digits with the preset buttons, or on the touchscreen keypad.

  3. 3

Press the rightmost soft key or SEEK-up to confirm.

Worth knowing

Tips from the workbench

  • The last four characters can include letters — a character that looks like a zero next to letters is worth photographing rather than guessing.

  • Ram centre stacks of this era are deeply recessed; the correct Chrysler removal tool saves breaking the trim clips.
