Where to look
In rough order of how little work each option takes on a Toyota ERC unit.
- 01
On screen after three failed entries
Enter any four digits three times. The unit then displays ERC followed by sixteen characters. On some units it appears immediately when the anti-theft screen loads.
- 02
Diagnostic screen
On units with a touchscreen, hold the info button while pressing the top-left corner of the display to reach the service page, which lists the ERC alongside the firmware version.
We can turn it into the 4-digit unlock code
Optional — this guide stays free either way. If you would rather not chase the code down yourself, enter the serial and we return the digits straight away.
Entering the code
However you got the four digits, this is how they go in.
- 1
With the ERC screen showing, key our four-digit code into the on-screen or physical keypad.
- 2
Press ENTER or the rightmost soft key.
- 3
The unit returns to the radio screen and the anti-theft lock clears permanently.
Tips from the workbench
The ERC changes each time the unit fully loses power, so read it and use it in the same session. If the battery is disconnected after you order, request a free re-run with the new ERC.
There is no letter O or I in an ERC — those characters are always zero and one.
